A hundred years ago, the town post office was one of if not the most important and iconic buildings in a community. It was a point of pride. An important destination where one could conduct business, send and receive important messages and even vote. Often times, you would dress up to greet and meet with your fellow neighbors at the post office. Our historic post office began to go into dis-repair about 25 years ago but baring it's exterior appearance, the structure is sound and solid. I've been all through it myself (multiple times), solid concrete footings, brick, limestone, marble and steel roof structure with an entire concrete deck on the roof itself. Yes, it needs a new roof, windows and a trash and debris cleanup but it's solid and well worth preserving. The building has been waiting patiently for a new lease on life and it's about it get it. Bellefontaine continues on its renaissance because of good hard working leadership getting things done. Last night at City Council, a public/private partnership agreement was voted on and passed first reading that will save this building and start the steps for its cleanup, restoration and promotion for a wonderful new business. Also, the Logan County land-bank has been formed and this transfer will be its first project. It takes courage to make this moves but I am confident in the plans presented and look forward to seeing this beautiful building alive and proud again. maxi evening dresses
